Three facts that all of Aprilís friends should know about her:
1. April dedicated much of her life to teaching those dedicated professionals who capture the medical data on individual cancer patients that researchers use in the fight again this disease. These data collectors are known as cancer (or tumor) registrars.
2. Her favorite place to visit and explore (and attend cooking classes) was New Orleans, where she had many friends, including the members of a well-known Cajun band.
3. She always liked a good party! April told me that when she eventually lost her battle with pancreatic cancer, she didnít want a wake, but wanted a party.
Weíre going to put all these facts together to honor her when the National Cancer Registrars Association (NCRA) holds their Annual Educational Conference in New Orleans in May. Aprilís colleagues, friends and relatives will hold a Celebration of Life/Cajun Dance Party. This event will also serve as a fundraiser for an educational fund to be named in her honor.
Even if you won't be in New Orleans for the Conference, you may send checks with ďApril Fritz MemorialĒ in the memo line to the NCRA Educational Fund, 1330 Braddock Place, Suite 520, Alexandria, VA 22314 or you may make an online donation in Aprilís memory at https://tinyurl.com/April-Fritz-Memorial. Be sure to type Aprilís name in the ďin memory ofĒ block.
